Therm-A-Rest Z Seat review

Therm-A-Rest Z Seat review

The Therm-A-Rest Z Seat is like the piece of hiking gear you didn’t know you needed. This little foam pad solves so many problems it’s insane to think I haven’t owned one before.

The Z Seat is a closed cell foam pad that folds up accordion style just like the popular Therm-A-Rest sleeping pads. One side features a silver reflective material (not like shiny metal reflection) that will help keep your butt warm in the winter time, and it does! It didn’t take long sitting on it to feel the cold from the ground going away. When unfolded, it measures at 16 in X 13 in, and it’s packed size is small 13 in X 2.5 in. While small in size, it’s plenty big enough for your normal butts. The foam keeps your butt from getting sore while sitting on the ground, and you don’t have to worry about getting a hole in it like you do with the inflatable seats.

The Z Seat

The Z Seat is versatile as it also offers a kneeling pad, a place to put your pack if you are a hammock camper, and can even be used a wind screen for your camping stove! At 2oz and under $15, anyone can afford to carry this simple piece of gear.
